Are you a cattle herder or a cat herder? Find out in this fun and insightful program that shares the latest thinking and research about leadership and what types of leaders produce the best results. In this seminar, Don Shapiro, co-author of The Character-Based Leader, will inspire you to embrace your role as a leader and learn how to develop a leadership character that can build trust. Not all leadership methods are equal when it comes to producing results. While most leadership ideas can help you work better with your people, that alone will not raise your people's performance enough to actually boost results. Research shows there are certain types of leaders that produce higher sales, profits, customer satisfaction, teamwork, employee engagement and employee retention. In community organizations, they get more enthusiastic involvement and commitment from volunteers. Great leadership is about trust and building that trust is about your character...who you are. It's not about your title, position, power or authority. You can be a great leader without a title and having a title does not make you a leader. It's also not about using good human relations techniques. While that can improve how well you deal with people, it takes a lot more than techniques to build the type of trust that can produce exceptional performance. People trust your character, not your title or techniques. When you lead from a character that builds trust, your people will enthusiastically join you in pursuing your goals. Leadership character is a combination of your values and principles, how you see your role as a leader and your attitude toward those you lead. That includes integrity, respect, humility and servant leadership. This seminar will explore the type of leadership character that builds trust and how you can grow into this type of leader.

Elizabeth Lions
Career Development
Recorded: Aug 24, 2015 at 09:00 am EDT
In Elizabeth's last discussion she talked about the high cost of retention and not letting your best team members walk away. To continue that thread, Elizabeth's talk on employee engagement will enlighten leaders. According to Gallup, only 30 percent of workers are engaged at work which is a loss of 550 billion lost in productivity. What is employee engagement? Why is it important? How do I get some of that good stuff? Do I need to worry about bad reviews on GlassDoor from employees? All this and more will be answered on Elizabeth talk on Learn It Live. Don't leave employee engagement to HR. Take the reins and become involved as a leader in this important concept.

Elizabeth Lions is an executive coach, speaker and consultant to the most powerful executives that keep Corporate America rolling. She is also a three time author, with her latest book "Hear Us Roar - Unapologetic Women Leading in Corporate America" making a big splash. Her other books are "Recession Proof Yourself and I Quit - Working For You Isn't Working For Me" Her client list includes working with individuals from Worldpay, TSYS, Booz Allen, Microsoft, Northrup Grummond, Samsung, Global Payments, Bank of New York, Mellon and many other Fortune 500 companies. She is considered a thought leader for WNET (Women In Payments), and has written and delivered career content to 3,000 of their members. In 2020, WNET launched her career content webinars as well as a daily mediation class. Over 95% that participate are at the Vice President or Director level and over 100 joined the class within 3 weeks of the launch date. The reason? Elizabeth is just like them. In 2020, Forbes invited Elizabeth to join the Forbes Women Forum during COVID19, so she could weigh in on leadership issues. What makes Elizabeth highly unique is she is just like the executives she works with, coaches, and serves. She, herself, still works in Corporate America, for one of the biggest Fintech companies on the planet. She knows what it is like to try to find that ten minutes to re-focus, re-calibrate and calm down so she can bring that energy back into her work. Elizabeth's vision is to provide a place for the executive to explore mindfulness and meditation - on their own terms in a format and setting they could digest. What makes her the ideal teacher is she is just like them - she works, drinks a lot of Starbucks, shows up for meetings five minutes early and is the top producer in the company and still maintains a daily meditation practice, along with a marriage. Elizabeth's specialty is helping clients land the promotion, find a new job or simply bring their leadership game to the next level. Elizabeth knows why someone is hired, fired of promote before they do. When she isn't coaching the Who's Who to help them up their game in leadership, Elizabeth can be found on the back of her husband's Harley Davidson motorcycle or twisting in the yoga studio for hours on end.
